Just Like being there ( well nearly) - If you never had the pleasure and honour of seeing Ted Hawkins live then get this, if you did then still get it.Ted Hawkins was one of the greatest talents I have had the pleasure of seening and listening to, the range of his music, his voice and the enormity ( not just his physical size ) of the man. This album provides an insight into a Ted Hawkins gig more than adequately, sit back late evening turn off the lights, throw some beer around the room and light a ciggy ( even if you don t smoke) and let the man and his music take you to realms you have never been to. Unfortunatly for you, you will still only get 50% of really being there. If you have had the pleasure then do the same as above and your experience is probably near 90%. This album took me back to the 80 s when Ted was doing the small clubs in my area, there is not a single song here I don t like, and there is no song that is better than another as with all his songs they re all outstanding, Teds voice materialises a glass in front of you, his acappelo makes the hair on your stand up like needles and his rendition of zippaddy doodah brings back wonderful memories, its just a shame his version of Green Green Grass was not captured.Absolutely brilliant as a reminder of a wonderful and sadly missed great man.
